What is going on with HD-DVD and Blu-ray high definition DVD players?
- HD-DVD and Blu-ray are two competing, yet non-compatible
formats in a market place battle very similar to the Beta Max and VHS
battle of many years ago.
- And the winner is... Well, unfortunately not you
the consumer! - Blu-ray but...
- The battle is not entirely over and won't be until all of
the HD-DVD stock is sold, DON'T BUY INTO IT!
- If you need to get into this market right now, buy a player
that handles both formats.
HD-DVD and Blu-ray are the latest video technology waging a battle
against each other to become the next format to make all of your
standard DVD somewhat obsolete. Somewhat obsolete means,
unlike
your VCR tapes, that your standard DVD's will still be playable on the new
equipment. Custom Connections Online has been very reluctant
in
getting our customers involved in this battle giving the recommendation to
stay out of this market until a clear winner emerges and prices for the equipment and discs fall to near original DVD levels.
The original DVD has a resolution of 720 x 480 compared to 1920 x 1080
for Blu-ray (and HD-DVD). With better than twice the resolution
one can imagine why we are all eager for the winner to emerge and the
prices to drop.
