HDMI????????
- There is a baffling array of contradictory information
regarding
the latest and greatest interconnect method called HDMI (High
Definition Multimedia Interface). All you want to know is
what
will work best with your system. The answer is:
- For runs less than 2 meters (6.56 ft.) anything half way
decent
that vaguely resembles an HDMI cable. This statement will
shock
and horrify most sales people but is true because at that length the
digital signal loss is not significant enough at any current "speed"
(bit rate) to cause any reduction in any signal
passed.
- For runs less than 6 meters (19.69 ft.) anything short of
the very worst quality cable.
- For runs less than 12 meters (39.37 ft.) is where the
very best
equipment may experience some problems (sparkles, color sync problems,
etc.) with poor quality cables.
- For runs further than 12 meters there are two choices,
buy a
really expensive cable or buy two less expensive cables and an
inexpensive HDMI Amplifier.
- For example a 75 ft run:
- 1 "nationally recognized" high quality cable = $700.00
- 2 good quality cables ($200.00) and an
amplifier/conditioner ($50.00) = $ 250.00
